Parents are said to have barred the school gate in order to demand that the Gauteng Education Department refurbish the premises. ILLEGAL DUMPING AND LITTERING IN BRIXTON

Illegal dumping challenges in Brixton have become a norm. An increase in population and urban migration have significantly contributed towards increased waste generation and associated challenges. However, this has posed a negative impact in the community and has resulted to an unhealthy living environment. There has become a large amount of waste disposal tariffs and citizens are ignorant of these uprising issues. Much of the waste that pollutes Brixton comes from littering and illegal dumping which results to a greater harm in our ecosystem. There is lack of Sanitation workers operating, this has affected Brixton as a disadvantaged community as dumpsites are often located near roads. There is also a blockage of run-off water in the event of  downpour. Brixton has totally lost the aesthetic value and its community should implement ways on how to tackle the situation.
